MAPUSA: St. Anthony’s Sports Club, Marna registered a solitary goal win over Goa Velha Sports Club to take the final spot of the Milagres Soccer Cup, organised by Milagres Sports Club, at Duler Stadium, here on Saturday.
Both the teams played almost on equal footing in the first session, where in the very second minute Marna’s Ryan failed to score from close, while in the 15th minute Chatur Naik was the culprit not to score for Goa Velha.
A couple of minutes before the breather, Marna surged ahead as Siddhant Shirodkar tapped the ball into the goal off a cross from Sahil Pomburphekar to take the lead.
On crossing ends, Goa Velha went all out in search of the equaliser but the Marna defence held to their one goal lead till the final whistle.
