BENAULIM: St Anthony SC, Marna-Siolim blanked Cana-Benaulim SA 3-0 to move into the semi-finals of the 42nd Cana-Benaulim soccer organised by Cana-Benaulim Sporting Association, at Sao Joao Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Friday.
Just in the second minute Siolim midfielder Sherwin Lobo’s long ranger hit the Benaulim post and went out of play.
At the other end, Benaulim striker Osburne Fernandes’ solo-effort was thwarted by Siolim’s Claudio Rodrigues in the 6th minute.
In the 9th minute, Siolim’s Sidhant Shirodkar sent in a long ball to striker Vipul Pednekar who misfired his shot.
Sidhart Shiordkar netted the first goal of the match in the 30th minute.
Siolim netted two more goals through Vipul Pednekar in the 56th and 59th minutes with both assists provided by midfielder Sherwin Lobo.
St.Anthony SC, Marna-Siolim will now meet the winner of St Anthony SC Colva and SAI Avtar Anjuna in the semi-final on August 6.
