SERAULIM: St Anthony Sports Club, Colva got the better of Varca Sports Club 5-4 via the tie-breaker to move into the final of the Village Panchayat Seraulim Cup, in memory of late Ligorio Gomes and organised by United Sports Club Seraulim, at Seraulim ground, on Saturday.
Villroy D’Cruz the defender of Varca was outstanding as he created a lot of chances for the forward line but their strikers failed to score.
In the third minute, Vilroy sent in a long ball to Joylon Cardozo but shot the ball wide. Nelson Gomes of Colva hit a power drive shot which was brilliantly saved by the Varca keeper in the 12th minute.
In the 36th minute, Maxon Fernandes of Colva saw his all-round effort get denied by the rival post. With just two minutes left for the final whistle, Maxon Fernandes hit a power drive long range shot was saved by the rival keeper.
In the last minute of the match, Vilroy D’Cruz’s power packed shot hit the rival post and went out of play.
In the tie-breaker St Anthony SC, Colva netted through Maxon Fernandes, Ashley Fernandes, Nelson Gomes, Khabir Khan and Menino Hilario while Muhammed Shaikh, Vilroy D’Cruz, Columbian Noronha and Dylan Lima scored for Varca SC.
