PANJIM: Strongman Champions League World Challenge was flagged off at 11:30 a.m. at the Baga Parking Lot, Calangute on Saturday.
The SCL World Challenge has around 25 participating countries and reputed names such as Fabio Maranhão, Brad Soper, Jayson George Woods, Yateesh Katoch, Thomas Granhofand and their performance was seen by the world through broadcast partner Sony Ten 1 HD.
The SCL Champions League is a playoff on weight-lifting tasks like Viking Press, Car Dead Lift, Atlas Stone, Frame Carry, Loading Race in the Men’s Category and Crucifix, Car Dead Lift, Stone Over Bar and Log Lift in the Women’s Category.
Team Strongman India were delighted to bring their tournament to Goa this time, knowing the level of keenness and enthusiasm people here have for sports.
Sanjit Paul, president of Strongman India, states, “This venture is an attempt by us to boost the power of aspiring athletes from all across the world and enable them to raise the level along with popularising such strength sports on a global platform”.
Last year, the Strongman India League at Miramar, Goa which was a great success and league won international accolades for it, he added.
The championship will conclude Sunday at 6 p.m.
