PANJIM: Sun Moon and Stars Veterans edged past Viva North Veterans 4-1 via the tie-breaker in the final of the Vanxim Divar Veterans Cup football tournament organized by Goenche Football Mogi, at SAG ground, Campal, here, recently. There was no score at full time.
The game witnessed sheer class of football as both teams battled to take the lead. They created chances but missed the target eventually ending to goalless in fulltime with Sun Moon and Stars emerging 4-1 victorious in penalty shootout.
Speaking on the occasion, GFDC chairman, Dr Rufino Monteiro applauded the spirit and commitment of veterans for displaying high level of performance even after passing their playing days and hoped the young grassroots trainees will take inspiration from them.
He further thanked Nelson Silveira, who has been a strong supporter by promoting Goan football in Dubai and Goa.

Chief guest for the final, MLA of Panjim Consituency, Sidharth Kuncalienker expressed pleasure to see one team from the North Goa and another from South Goa reach the final and display a good game. He further congratulated Sun Moon and Stars on winning the title.
Among the dignitaries present were Aleixo Da Costa, Member Secretary of GFDC; Mumbai City FC player Gabriel Fernandes, Council members Agnelo Fonseca, Shantaram Naik and Anand Vagurmekar.
