PANJIM: Goa’s Tanvi Hadkonkar excelled at the recently concluded Asian Youth Chess Championship in the U-14 category, organised by Chess Federation of Sri Lanka from April 1 to 10.
Tanvi, a Mushtifund High School student, was part of the three member India team which participated in the event wherein she won the fifth prize in the rapid chess.
She bagged silver medals along with the team in the Standard and Rapid chess and clinched bronze in the Blitz chess.
“Hearty congratulations to Tanvi Hadkonkar for her splendid performance at Asian Youth Sri Lanka. We are proud that our State players are representing the Nation and also winning the medals,” said Goa Chess Association Secretary Kishor Bandekar.
Tanvi finished 5th in Rapid while she finished 13th in Blitz tournaments.
“I am very happy since this was my first event out of India with the Indian team but I am little disappointed as I did not play well for Standard tournament. I am thankfull to AICF, GCA, Bandekar sir and all the well wishers,” expressed Tanvi.
