Tropa Sports and Cultural Association scored a fluent 2-0 victory against Don Bosco Oratory, Panjim in a GFA Under-14 league match at Siolim church grounds, Siolim on Saturday.
Don Bosco scored against the run of play in the first half. A defensive lapse from Tropa enabled striker Rolan Almeida to place the ball in the goal with the goalkeeper totally beaten.
Tropa hit back but the Don Bosco defense withstood all the pressure with the Don Bosco goalkeeper denying the Tropa strikers from striking.
Before the changeover, Tropa head coach Alexander Fernandes made an important substitution change with Saish Goltekar being replaced by Atish Chopdekar.
In the very first minute of the second half, Arnold scored from a well measured pass from Atish.
Goaded by the success, Tropa went all out and created lot of chances but it was the Don Bosco goalkeeper who stood firm under the bar to avoid any further damage. However, in the 55th minute Joel Fernandes scored from a set piece conceived by Hari Parab and which saw Joel just tapping the ball in.
With this win, Tropa is leading the points table with 18 from six victories.
