Trupti, Neha sail into finals

PANJIM, MARCH 18 Trupti Murugunde of IndianOil continued with her fine form and qualified for both the women's singles and doubles finals of the individual events at All-India Public Sector Badminton Tournament organised by IndianOil Corporation Limited, at Fatorda stadium, Margao on Thursday.

Trupti Murugunde of IndianOil continued with her fine form and qualified for both the women’s singles and doubles finals of the individual events at All-India Public Sector Badminton Tournament organised by IndianOil Corporation Limited, at Fatorda stadium, Margao on Thursday.
Trupti made short work of Mohita Sahadev of AAI in the semi-finals, winning 21-10, 21-15.  In the other semi-finals, Neha Pandit  of AAI, the second seed, defeated her team mate, Sampada Sahasrabudhe 19-21, 21-10, 21-12. 
The women’s doubles final tomorrow will also be between IndianOil and AAI with the topseeds, Aparna Balan and Trupti Murugunde taking on second seeds Sampada Sahasrabudhe and Megha Merin Ninan.  The mixed doubles finals will be between top seeds Arun Vishnu and Aparna Balan of IndianOil and Tanvir Gill and Mohita Sahadev of AAI. 
Meanwhile, all the four seeded players, P. Kashyap, Guru Sai Dutt (both IOC), Saurav Kapoor (AAI) And Ajay Jayaram (IOC) made it to the quarter-finals of men’s singles.  In the men’s doubles, the seeded pairs of Arun Vishnu and Tarun K(IOC), Alvin Francis and Mayank Behl (FCI), JB Vidhyadhar and Nikhil Kanetkar (IOC) and Jaison Xavier and M Vinayak (LIC) entered the quarter-finals.
Other results – women’s doubles semi-finals: Aparna Balan and Trupti Murugunde (IOC) bt Abantika Deka and Jacqueline Kunnath (AAI) 21-13, 21-12; Sampada Sahasrabudhe and Megha Merin Ninan (AAI) bt Leena Dhapre and Vaishali Shirodkar (LIC) 21-6, 21-7.
Mixed doubles semi-finals: Arun Vishnu and Aparna Balan (IOC) bt K Tanishak and Manali Sinha (BSNL) 21-15, 21-8; Tanvir Gill and Mohita Sahadev (AAI) bt Jason Xavier and Leena Dhapre (LIC)  21-12, 21-19.
