rnUnited Club of Nerul prevailed over Saligao Sporting Club 4-3 via the tie-breaker after the teams were involved in a goalless draw to move into the quarter-finals of Calangute Panchayat Cup soccer tournament, organised by Calangute Association, at Poriat ground, Calangute, on Thursday.
rnThere was no score at the end of regulation period.
rnIn the ensuing tie-breaker, Nerul found the target through John Vaz, Russell Fernandes, Michael Monteiro and Newton Pereira while Uday Naik, Alex Gonsalves and Johnny Menezes scored for Saligao.
rnEarlier, Calangute sarpanch, Laxman Palyekar Porob inaugurated the football tournament in the presence of ex-sarpanch Albert Fernandes, panch and president Calangute Association, Alex Fernandes.
