MARGAO: A four goal blitz including a hat-trick by striker Sanford Dias helped Vashvon Boys, Sarzora register a thumping 6-0 win over St Anthony’s Sports Club ‘B’ Dessua and sail into the quarter-finals of Chinchinim Villagers Trophy football tournament organized by Union of Chinchinim Villagers at church ground, Chinchinim, Wednesday. Vashvon led 2-0 at half time.
Vashvon dominated the proceedings and enjoyed the lion’s share of exchanges. They surged ahead in the fifth minute when Sanford outwitted a couple of defenders and placed the ball to the far corner of the net.
Spurred by the early success, Vashvon inflated the tally when Sanford beat the rival goalkeeper with a stiff shot.
Post resumption, Vashvon mounted pressure on the rival fragile defence with Sanford completing his hat-trick soon after the resumption.
Five minutes later, Sanford gave his team a 4-0 cushion. Sameer Kajucar made it 5-0 midway in the second half while Sherwin Fernandes drove the final nail into the rival coffin late in the second half.
