PANJIM: Vijaya Cricket Academy defeated CCI, Belgaum by 135 runs while St John defeated Sportsweek CC by 6 wickets in the final league matches to book the final date in the All-India late Bhikoo Pai Angle U-16 cricket tournament, on Wednesday.
At Fatorda ground, Put in to bat first by CCI, Vijaya CA scored a whooping total of 289 for 4 in 45 overs.
Atharva (91) and Mayank (55) shared 138 runs partnership and were well supported by Siddhart (26) and Adhoksh (28). Akshay and Ashish took a wicket each.
In reply CCI were bundled out for 153 in 37 overs due to devastating bowling by Atharva (7) and Mayank (3).
At Agonda ground, Sportsweek elected to bat first and could manage only 136 in 30 overs with Omprakash Lenka (31) and Vedant Naik (41) batting well.
Sanchith (3) was the pick of the bowlers with Dheeraj and Mayank claiming 2 wickets each.
In reply, St John crossed the target in 29 overs with 6 wickets in hand.
Abhinav (41) and Mayank (25) batted well in St John’s win.
The final will be played today, at Fatorda between Vijaya Cricket Academy (Belgaum) and St John CA (Hyderabad).
