PANJIM: Yash Fadte won the 11th Indian Junior Squash Championship held at Greater Noida, on Saturday.
In the final, Yash beat Maharashtra no1 Neel Joshi 10-12, 11-1, 11-5,11-6.
The 17-year old is the only Indian boy to win this prestigious Indian championship five times! Yash won the championship in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019 and is the only Indian boy to achieve this milestone.
The 11th Indian Junior Squash Championship had participants from 11 countries including Malaysia, England, USA, Sri Lanka, etc and over 500 participants in total.
Yash played continuous 4 tournaments in a row within two and a half weeks and has had success in almost all.
Earlier, Yash won the 1st edition of the Western Slam at Mumbai and finished third at the HCL PSA at Greater Noida where he was given a wild card as the top junior of the country and ended up defeating top senior players from all across the world.
Next up for Yash will be another Senior PSA Championship which will be an even bigger event at Chennai in October where he will be given a wildcard taking in to consideration his performance at the HCL PSA and right after that will be the Junior Nationals in October end at Chennai.
In order to prepare for these events, Yash will be going to Egypt and England to train under top class squash and fitness coaches.
