Third seed Fadte, who won the Pioneer Cup title in Germany last week and the silver in the 21st Asian Junior Individual Championship in Iran, gave the European champion and England No 1 a huge scare before going down 9-11, 11-6, 11-5, 16-14 in a 50-minute thriller.
Fadte snatched the opening set in a tight finish and almost forced the decider after stretching the crucial fourth set well into extra points.
Fadte, who is a student of St Joseph’s Institute, Vasco kicked off his campaign with a 11-7, 11-6, 11-7 win over qualifier Maxwell Velasquez of the United States in the first round and overcame another American, Harry Charlton 11-3, 11-9, 14-12 in an exciting second round.
Then, Fadte went on to beat formidable Toufik Mekhalfi of France for the second time in two weeks in the quarter-final. The Indian who beat Mekhalfi in the Pioneer Cup final scored another 11-4, 12-10, 11-6 victory.
In the semi-final, Fadte shocked second seed and European No 2 Tamas Devald of Hungary 11-3, 11-1, 11-9 before losing to Carter in the final of the concluding Super Series event of the European Junior
Circuit, played under the auspices of the European Squash Federation. Fadte will next travel to Mumbai for the NSCI Junior
Open from July 19 to 23 followed by the Hong Kong Junior Open from July 29 to August 3.
