AMBELIM: Youth Club of Manora scored a fluent 3-0 win over Goa Velha Sports Club in the Geno-Goa Football Association 1st Division League match played at Ambelim ground, on Saturday.
YC Manora enjoyed good ball possession in the opening minutes of the game and took the lead in the 21st minute when Benson Fernandes ran through the middle and shot home beating the diving GVSC Keeper.
Goa Velha SC were awaken by the goal but their strike force seemed to be rather sloppy as they failed to take the opportunities that came their way.
Manora doubled the account just before the breather as Francis Andrade scored off a loose ball with a lovely effort from the top of the box after initially Jouston Barbosa weaved through the Goa Velha defence.
Goa Velha who were safe from relegation weren’t at their best as the result wouldn’t have much bearing and such conceded their third in the 67th minute.
The third goal was scored by Benson, who completed his brace, as he tapped into the open goal after a terrible mixup between GVSC keeper Soma Korgaonkar and defender Joseph Rodrigues.
YC Manora’s Jouston Barbosa was named the Man-of-the-match and was awarded by Ex Committee member Welvin Menezes.
