Nerul SC beat Curtorim Gymkhana 5-4 via the tie-breaker to clinch the Mardol Trophy in the 24th inter-village football tournament finals organised by United SC, Mardol. The teams stood goalless at full time.
Xavier Estrocio, Dnyaneshwar Madgaonkar, Jennifer Clemnete, Siddharth Shirodkar, Sarvesh Dabholkar were the scorers for Gymkhana while Seby Martin, Nelson Fernandes, Diago Dias and Roy Culaco scored in the penalty shoot-out for Nerul.
Nerul SC were awarded Rs. 15,000 and the rolling trophy while Curtorim Gymkhana had to be content with Rs. 10,000.
Following prizes were awarded: Best disciplined team Sinquerim Mayem. Player of the tournament Xavier Estrocio of Nerul SC. First scorer of the final Nelson Fernandes of Curtorim Gymkhana. Best goalkeeper Xavier Estrocio of Nerul SC.
Deepak Dhawlikar, MLA was the chief guest and gave the prizes. Ajay Pednekar compered. Mahesh Mardolkar proposed the vote of thanks.
