NAVELIM: Salgaocar FC Juniors blanked UC Telaulim 8-0 in the GFA First Division football match played at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Monday.
The match was fought closely in the first fifteen minutes between the two good coaches Severinho Fernandes of UC Telaulim who recently guided SCC Cavelossim to lift GSPL Trophy and Salgaocar FC coach.

UC Telaulim striker Clinton Niasso was served the ball on the plater by Agnelo Colaco but thw former failed to connect inside Salgaocar FC box in the third minute. Salgaocar FC’s Devendra Margaonkar had a chance in the following minute after Klins Mendes rolled the ball to Devendra but his shot balooned over the cross bar of UC Telaulim in the eight minute.
The next ten minutes saw the strikers of either of the teams trying to score but the defence lines of both the sides were on active mode.
Devendra Margaokar tried from close range but Ozen Silva the keeper of UC Telaulim was equal to the task in the 20th minute followed by Salgaocar’s Liston Colaco’s magic curler which failed to pop up into Telaulim nets in the 22nd minute.
Later, UC Telaulim’s Savio Fernandes tried a low drive shot but the ball was easily saved by Avinash Rao keeper of Salgaocar FC.
Salgaocar FC accelerated their moves upfront with Devendra Margaonkar scoring the first goal for Salgaocar with a placement shot after Telaulim’s defender Clifton Rebello failed to clear the ball in 26th minute.
Liston Colaco and Devendra Margaonkar tried their best to try and slot in more goals for the Salgaocar side.
In the 30th minute, Liston’ freekick got the deflection of Savio Fernandes of Telaulim and almost got into the goal however Ozen made a goal line save in the 30th minute to keep his team in the game.
Striker Lalit Tariad doubled the lead for Salgaocar in the 35th minute with a powerful ground shot to the far corner of the net while Salgaocar’s Klins Mendesmissed an open chance in the 40th minute.
At half time Salgaocar FC led by 2-0
Post resumption, Salgaocar FC scored the third goal in the 51st minute with Liston’s spot kick after keeper Ozen brought down Devendra inside the box.
Liston went on to score yet another goal in the 63rd minute to make it 4-0 for Salgaocar FC juniors as the Telaulim side keeper raced out of his line to try and clear a through ball but Liston took control of the ball and shot from 40 yards.
Super substitute Yamnursab netted yet another goal for Salgaocar FC in the 65th minute.
Later, Ronaldo Oliveira beat the off side trap and was one on one with the goalkeeper when he unselfishly passed the ball to Yamnursab who shot the ball home to make it 6-0 for his team in the 80th minute.
But there was time for Ronaldo Oliveira to make it 7-0 before Liston completed his hat-trick in the 89th minute to take the tally to 8-0 before the final whistle.
At Curtorim ground, the match played between Curtorim Gymkhana and Goa Police SC ended in a 1-1 draw. Abdul Khan netted the first goal for Goa Police in the 55th minute while Jesmon Soares levelled terms for Curtorim Gymkhana.
