Locals want Ponda market complex roof repaired immediately

Bondbag resident sustains head injuries after slipping and falling on the mezzanine floor due to accumulated rainwater on account of leakage

PONDA: Ponda locals on Monday demanded that the roof of the market complex be repaired immediately to prevent people from sustaining injuries due to water accumulation.

The demands comes after 35-year-old Dinesh Gaude from Bondbag, Ponda,  who visited the fair price shop in Market Complex slipped and fell on the mezzanine floor due to the accumulated rainwater on account of leakage. He sustained head injuries and was rushed to the hospital by the locals.

It is pertinent to note that the market complex has turned dangerous for people to move due to leakages. 

Viraj Sapre, a social worker from Ponda said, “The roof of the complex should be repaired immediately as several people visit the fair price shops in the market.” 

He said, “PMC should carry out urgent roof maintenance work as it is festival time and many people visit the market. It may prove fatal one day. Beside this, stray dogs and cattle roam freely on the mezzanine floor and cause nuisance to people visiting the complex”. 

He called upon the civic body to clean the complex on a regular basis.
