PANJIM: The Panjim police have arrested a Chimbel youth for allegedly breaking into an apartment at Patto and committing theft of Rs 30,000. The 25-year-old has been identified as Afzal Sheikh, a native of Hubli, Karnataka.
Panjim police further revealed that M Mascarenhas, a housewife residing at Patto alleged that unknown persons entered into her flat by opening the main door, which was unlatched. The alleged thief decamped with a purse that contained important documents, cash of Rs 500 and a mobile phone, all worth Rs 30,000.
The accused has been taken into police custody and is being interrogated.
