PONDA: Damodar Moraskar took over as administrator of Goa Dairy on Thursday, five days after he was appointed as such by the Registrar of Co-operative Societies (RCS).
After taking over of Goa Dairy as administrator, Moraskar took into his custody all the documents of Goa Dairy that were in safe custody of Pankaj Marathe, the assistant registrar of Co-operative Society (ARCS), who had seized them on Wednesday in compliance of an order issued by the High Court of Bombay at Goa.
He also convened a meeting of head of various departments of Goa Dairy so as to understand its working and ensure its smooth functioning.
Later, he told the reporters that he would work hard to bring Goa Dairy on the path of profit making.
To a question, he said that the RCS did not specify as to how long he would be the administrator of Goa Dairy.
When asked why he delayed in taking over Goa Dairy as its administrator, he said that he was busy with some other official duties related to Sanjeevani Sugar Factory and was out of Goa.
He informed that he would also take over the chare of Goa Dairy MD soon. “Currently, I am going through the RCS order and accordingly implement its direction,” he said.
When asked to comment on HC rejecting interim relief to Sawanth, he said, “I have not received the HC order, but as soon as I get the order, Sawanth will be placed under suspension and inquiry will be initiated as per RCS direction.”
Moraskar is a senior officer at the Civil Supplies Department and he was appointed as Administrator of Goa Dairy by RCS Sanjeev Gadkar on August 31. He is also the administrator and managing director of Sanjeevani Sugar Factory.
Moraskar’s appointment as administrator of Goa Dairy was necessitated following the disqualification of seven directors of the dairy by Gadkar.
On his appointment, Moraskar was asked to suspend Goa Dairy Managing Director Dr Navso C Sawanth for the irregularities in the dairy.
