MAPUSA: A citizens’ forum from Mapusa in a written memorandum to the Bardez Deputy Collector requested for immediate action on the “plot development” activity taking place at the Cuchelim cricket ground.
The citizens in a letter stated that even after the Mapusa Municipal Council issued a notice to stop the activity, the concerned person has continued with activity.

On Tuesday, the delegation consisting of North Goa District Congress President Vijay Bhike, NCP Spokesperson Sanjay Barde, Member of Mapusa Citizens Forum Sudesh Tivrekar and Shiv Sena State President Jitesh Kamat met Deputy Collector Akshay Potekar.
The citizens’ forum said, “This is the only traditional ground that is left for the sports lovers in the municipal jurisdiction.”
They added that if the authorities fail to take action then they will approach the court.
The forum added that they have already written to all the authorities’ concerned informing them about the need to safeguard this particular ground. However, till date, no action has been taken by any of the authorities.
Meanwhile, Deputy Collector Bardez Akshay Potekar informed that an inspection will be carried out soon.
