SANGOLDA: Hosts Sports Authority of India (SAI) Veterans after dominating the first half came with renewed vigour to beat St Anna Veterans by a solitary goal in the 4 Team SAI Super League Cup, organised by Sports Authority of India Veterans Football Association, at Sangolda ground, on Sunday.
Both the teams played a defensive game with their respective players excelling in their departments.
In the first half, SAI came near to scoring twice when a snap shot by Arjuna Awardee Bruno Coutinho missed the mark and again a through pass by Alex Alvares to Frankie Mascarenhas’ attempt was well saved by St Anna Veterans keeper Yeshwant Parab
In the dying minutes Alex Alvares scored off a lay off pass by SAI captain Frankie Mascarenhas to earn full points for SAI.
With this win, SAI Veterans have 6 points and qualify for the final.
They will now face Chinchinim Veterans on November 10.
