PANJIM: The State Cabinet on Thursday granted approval for the land acquisition at Guirdolim in Salcete Taluka and at Santona in Sanguem Taluka for the purpose of doubling of Kulem-Margao section of the South Western Railway (SWR).
Speaking to the media persons post-Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said that the Cabinet gave its approval for land acquisition admeasuring 800 square metres at Guirdolim for doubling of Kulem-Margao track with the consent of the land owners.

The Cabinet also decided to transfer 7,490 square metres of government land situated at Santona village in Sanguem to the SWR for the doubling of Kulem-Margao track section under the Railways Act.
The Cabinet approved 50 per cent waiver in fees to beach shacks and deck beds under tourism shack policy for Goa for the current tourist season.
Last month, the Shack Owners Welfare Society of Goa has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, appealing to him to waive off tourism licence, excise and other fees for erecting of shacks and deck beds on beaches for the upcoming tourist season 2021-2022 in view of pandemic.
The Cabinet also approved scheme for providing energy efficient agriculture pumps and distribution of LED bulbs for domestic households under the Convergence project.
About 11,000 energy efficient agriculture pumps will be given to farmers while, approximately 16 lakh LED bulbs will be distributed to households.
The Cabinet also granted ex-post facto administrative approval and expenditure sanction for hiring National Informatics Centre (NIC) Cloud “MeghRaj” for migration of applications, websites hosted at the State Data Centre for management of the e-governance applications of the State government.
The Cabinet further granted ex-post facto approval for the activities/programmes conducted and expenditure of Rs 58.21 lakh made to mark the completion of two years of the Sawant government in March this year.
The Cabinet decided to accept the tender for the construction of the State Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology at Farmagudi, Ponda.
The Cabinet approved a proposal to relax the eligibility criteria under the Natural Calamity Relief Scheme so as to provide relief to the affected fishermen in the State.
