Sources confirmed that, the child, escorted by a team of women and child development officials, arrived in Goa on Sunday.
She was brought back based on a complaint filed alleging that the mother hails from a remote village in Madhya Pradesh village and does not have any relations in Uttar Pradesh.
The NCPCR, pointing out gross violation of the child’s rights recommended “point wise action taken report …” and to conduct a review of past cases that have been transferred to other districts within or outside the State. Considering the observations of NCPCR and request made by CWC Gorakhpur to take the child back, the department in February issued directions to the South Goa committee.
A decision whether the child will be reunited with her mother or lodged at Apna Ghar will be taken by the State authorities, sources said.
