Giving guidelines for standard procedures to be adopted in the event of extremists/terrorists attack in school, Canacona PI Gurudas Kadam asked all the schools to be self reliant in avoiding antisocial elements from coming near the students.
Kadam asked the headmasters to ensure that basic requirements like proper boundary wall, school gate manned by a security guard, alarm system, CCTV cameras, proper illumination of the school and its surroundings, among many other needs, are in place.
He also asked the headmasters to have contact numbers of the police, besides phone numbers of control rooms including that of fire services handy and easily accessible so that these agencies could be informed.
Kadam also sensitized the headmasters the usual standards to be adopted in case of terrorists or any other anti-social attack on school children or staff.
Earlier, PI Kadam also held a meeting with owners of cyber cafés and apprised them that their premises are soft targets for anti-social activities including passing out of information to terrorists/extremists. He asked them to be faultless in maintaining record of every visitor of their terminals.
“Don’t allow illegalities from your premises. Details and ID’s should be compulsorily collected of every customer/user,” Kadam told the cyber café owners.
It is reportedly learnt that some cyber café owners brought to the notice of the police the unregulated W-Fi services being offered at every nook and corner of the tourism beaches to the customers/visitors/tourists and how detrimental these services can be misused by determined anti-socials.
“There is a need to regulate Wi-Fi connectivity, considering its vulnerability to security aspects not only of the locality, but even the State and national security,” it was reportedly discussed in the meet.
Canacona police also sought cooperation in tackling drug menace and asked residents to be vigilant and provide information to the police of any suspicion in drug peddling activities.
