PANJIM: The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) on Thursday decided not to transact business on February 6 in view of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the State and instead to extend the duration of the session by a day.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will present his State budget 2024-25 on February 8.

The BAC which met at the Goa Assembly Complex, Porvorim decided not to transact any business listed for February 6 and to take it up on Saturday, February 10 by extending the duration of the brief session by one day.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will present his annual financial statement (budget) for the year 2024-25 on February 8.
The six-day budget session of the Goa Assembly will commence from February 2, with the customary address by Governor P S Sreedharan Pilli at 11.30 am.
Earlier, Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao said that the BAC had no power to decide on duration of the session and demanded that the government should not suspend rules to push for business without proper discussion in the House.
In a letter addressed to Secretary (Legislature), Alemao said, “The role of Business Advisory Committee under Rule 196 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of the Goa Legislative Assembly is restricted to recommending the time duration and indicate time-table for taking up various business during the Assembly session”.
Alemao also reiterated his demand to remove the restrictions to ask only five sub-questions in one Legislative Assembly Question (LAQ) and to increase it to at least seven to 10 sub-questions. He further urged that the restriction of five years to seek past history of any subject matter should be removed to enable the MLAs to get wide information on issues of past history.
