PANJIM: Vandana Rao, who was holding charge as Director Education, has been transferred as Additional Collector North, with immediate effect, in public interest.
Deputy Director Education, Santosh Amonkar, will hold charge as Director, until further orders. The order, as per Goa Govenor’s approval, was issued on Monday.

The transfer comes against the backdrop of the opposition criticising Rao on various decisions, including the recent circular directing schools to pay salaries of their staff for the month of July from their own funds. The circular was later withdrawn.
As per the order, Rao will also hold charge of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Goa Investment Promotion Board (IPB).
Meanwhile, Shashank Tripathi has been appointed Commissioner of Excise with immediate effect. He will continue to hold charge as Director of Sports, in addition to his own duties. Amit Satijya has been relieved as Commissioner Excise.
Additional Collector North, Dashrath Redkar, has been asked to report to Personnel Department.
