PANJIM: The man arrested for illegally possessing fire arm is found to be involved in at least two cheating cases in Panvel and Margao. 
Eloy Gomes, aged 42 years, was arrested from KTC Bus Stand in Panjim with a revolver and 11 live rounds without licence. 
Information gathered by the Panjim police has revealed that Gomes is facing trial for a case of cheating in Panvel. For an offence registered in 2015, Gomes was indicted under Sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust), 506 (ii) (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. Panjim Police Inspector Siddhant Shirodkar told Herald that the accused was arrested and released on bail, as per details shared by its counterparts in Panvel. 
While in another case at Margao police station, the accused is being investigated for another cheating case. “No case has been registered at Margao PS but application was received. It is being probed whether he was involved in this case of cheating as well,” he said. 
In the present FIR at Panjim PS, Gomes is booked under Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act. Police investigation found that he befriended a retired scientist, in his 80s and was living at the latter’s house at Merces. It is learnt that the revolver found from Gomes’ possession is that of the house owner, a claim denied by the latter. 
The accused is remanded in police custody of three days for interrogation.
