PANJIM: Venicia Fernandes, hailing from Arlem, and Secretary of youth focused organisation, Human Touch Foundation has been selected to be part of Youth Forum 2021, a side event for the 8th Asia Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) which will focus on the theme “Sustainable and Resilient Recovery from the COVID-19 Pandemic in Asia and the Pacific”.

The Youth Forum 2021 will be the largest ever advocacy focused event which will bring 600 adolescents and youth together from 34 countries in a co-learning exchange for advocacy actions in the Asia-Pacific region.
Venicia will be the country facilitator and regional rapporteur for the event, which will ensure that young people’s voices, their realities and perspectives are included in setting, transforming and implementing the regional agenda on sustainable development, with specific reference to the inter-governmental APFSD 2021 processes.
The event will also assess the progress, gaps and challenges in the implementation of various sustainable development goals and also address structural and systemic barriers to youth inclusion in sustainable development.
APFSD aims at playing a unique role as a catalyser of solutions and peer learning on how to accelerate transformations for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda while recovering from COVID-19.
Venicia is the Secretary of Human Touch Foundation (HTF), an NGO with a Special Consultative Status with Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), United Nations. HTF works strategically and collaboratively within sexual and reproductive health, substance abuse, TB and HIV movement to ensure good health and well-being to all young people.
