VALPOI: The Honda gram sabha on Sunday discussed the issues of illegal mobile tower, unemployment, street lights and panchayat building. The meeting was attended by around 100 villagers.
On the issue of mobile tower, the villagers sought to know as to who gave the NOC for the tower installed in front of the panchayat house.
“When the foundation stone was laid for the tower, we objected to the same but still the panchayat took no action. The panchayat kept us in dark,” said a villager.
Alleging that the tower was erected within a night, but the panchayat failed to inform to them, the villagers demand revocation NOC for the tower.
Street lights from all wards are not working properly need to replace new ones. And the Panchayat building has becomes too old, villagers demanded for new building.
Honda youth complained that though there are many small scale industries in the local industrial estate, they were not providing jobs to the locals. They urged the panchayat to take up the issue with the industries.
Sarpanch Atmaram Gaonkar informed the gram sabha that the panchayat would revoke the NOC given for the tower, replace the old streetlights and discuss the unemployment issue with local MLA in the coming days.
