MARGAO: The Goa Forward Party (GFP) has requested the State Election Commissioner of Goa to have the results of all the municipal councils at the same time. Various aspiring candidates have written to the SEC requesting the same.
“The president of GFP has from the beginning opined that the counting of all the municipal elections has to be held together. There are many precedents to certify that” said vice-president of GFP Durgadas Kamat at a press breifing. He was accompanied bypetitioners of the HC case, and the SC caveat Rumaldo Fernandes, Fauziya Shaikh, and Sujay Lotliker.
“Election commission is an independent authority. The commission behaved like a agent of the government in the past. We request the new SEC not to try to be a puppet of the government. Your predecessor tried to do that and SC has removed him” GFP reminded the SEC.
“We hope that the SEC has not come on a pleasure jaunt and we expect him to uphold the true spirit of democracy and the Constitution of India. He may seek legal advice from the ECI over this” Durgadas said.
