The Goa government had declared Saturday, March 20 as a “paid holiday” being the polling day for six municipal councils of Bicholim, Valpoi, Pernem, Cuncolim, Curchorem-Cacora and Canacona; Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) and by-election to Navelim ZP constituency, ward IX of Sankhali municipal council and 18 wards of various village panchayats.
The industrial workers, daily wage workers of the government departments and State government industrial departments; commercial and industrial workers of private establishments, workers of all private establishments, daily wage/casual workers employed in any business, trade, industrial undertakings or any other establishments and workers of the institutions governed under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 and also staff of educational institutions, who are entitled to vote in the above places will be entitled for “paid holiday” on March 20.
