PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, perhaps for the first time opened up about his wish to become a doctor. He however does not regret becoming a teacher, rather a successful teacher to later head Panchkroshi secondary school.
“I wanted to become a doctor but I was in the second or third waiting list, and so I chose to be a teacher. I am proud to be a teacher,” he said speaking on HCN’s The Morning After show on Saturday.
His comment comes while announcing that the Investment Promotion Board is chalking out policies to set up IT sector in the State, to stop brain-drain by providing suitable education to the students according to the job requirements.
“The students are passing out and taking up jobs in other states. There are many intelligent students who are going out to IT-hubs. We appeal to them to return to Goa, because we are trying to bring up jobs of that level in the State,” he said adding that citizens should not expect results overnight, but assured results will be achieved in next five years.
Parsekar, also holding Education portfolio claimed that Goa has upgraded the education sector to benefit the increasing number of students every year, like increasing seats for MBBS in the Goa medical college, etc.
Reiterating about his love for teaching, the chief minister said that “Goa will get good teachers” if one takes interest in teaching.
