MARGAO: Non-payment of outstanding dues by the Kadamba Transport Corporation gave some anxious moments for the local officials here after a petrol pump owner stopped selling diesel to the buses on credit on Wednesday.
Until Wednesday morning, the KTC owed around Rs 16 lakh to the owner Ashok Korgaonkar for supplying fuel to the KTC buses. He, however, decided to stop supplying diesel to KTC buses, forcing many buses to leave the petrol pump without filling the tanks.
It was only after the petrol pump owner acted tough, that the KTC cleared part of the bill, around Rs 10 lakh to be precise.
However, Korgaonkar refused to open refuelling facility for the KTC buses, demanding that the Corporation settle the balance amount.
“I had been after the KTC management over the last many days to clear my dues. I was disappointed when I found that they did not clear my amount in the bank this morning. This was the reason why I refused to refuel the KTC buses till this evening,” Korgaonkar told Herald.
The Korgaonkar petrol pump supplies fuel to the KTC buses operating from the Margao depot, and rough estimates put the total sale of fuel to these buses on credit at around Rs 3.50 lakh.
