AGONDA: Six Olive Ridley turtles laid more than 560 eggs at Agonda beach last Thursday night, taking the total tally of turtles nesting sites at the beach to 48. The workers from the turtle conservation centre at Agonda said that some nests have more than 100 eggs, while others are less than 100.
The eggs take around 45 to 50 days to incubate and hatchlings are expected from two nests in the next 10 days. In 2023, 59 Ridleys had laid 3886 eggs at Agonda. This year the number stands at around 2130 eggs from 48 turtles.
