Every social activist honestly serving the society by whatever means, faces lots of hardships and struggles at personal as well as social level, the magnitude of which only he or God can fathom. On a brighter side, what he earns by walking on his chosen thorn-ridden path is the goodwill, faith and love of thousands of citizens whom he serves, who gather around him hoping for a change.
Mathany was such a social activist. Simple, straightforward and honest to the core. Perhaps he never earned a rupee for himself and his wife while leading a life full of struggles until he joined politics, that too under BJP.
The corrupt and immoral political vultures are always on a lookout for people like Mathany, so that they can get them into their fold and cash upon the love, faith, goodwill and good name that people have given them. Mathany fell prey to the vultures. The cunning Mechiavillies of the right-wing utilized his name to garner Catholic votes in South, something which they could have never done with a Hindu face.
Mathany’s friends, well-wishers and supporters never approved with their hearts his joining politics, but remained mute spectators waiting for the future to unfold.
Future was cruel and merciless. Death cut short his journey of life. Man proposes and God disposes. Nobody can interfere here.
Now, the aura of goodwill and good name came as a legacy over Alina’s shoulders. She was to carry it further in the memory of her late husband. Now she was the next target of the vultures, to whom she fell prey, just like her husband.
As a minister of Environment, her tenure was lacklustre. At last, when she started making noise over the subject of Marinas and other issues after a long period of enforced silence, the vulture party got sense that her productivity period as their Christian face in South was about to get over and keeping her anymore in seat would lead to troubles instead of benefits.She was deprived of Environment Ministry portfolio.
Personally I believe that an honest, dedicated and committed social activist fighting on streets is hundred times more capable in serving the public than a pot- bellied politician sitting in the den of thieves in Porvorim.
I openly invoke Alina to kick BJP, the Membership of State Legislative Assembly as well as all her political relationships, and join hands with us activists on the streets to fight this corrupt system.
