Decomposed Body of Unidentified Man Found at Pernem Crematorium

A decomposed body of an unidentified man, believed to be aged between 60 and 65, was found at the Pernem Municipal Crematorium on Tuesday, prompting police to launch efforts to establish his identity.

According to police, the matter was registered at around 3 pm after an unknown caller informed them that a man was lying at the crematorium premises.

Police personnel visited the spot and found the decomposed body of an unidentified male in the crematorium area. The man was wearing a white T-shirt and checked shorts. Based on the circumstances at the scene, police said the deceased appeared to be a person who may have been living as a beggar.

An inquest panchanama was conducted in the presence of two panch witnesses. The body was subsequently shifted to the Goa Medical College (GMC) morgue for preservation.

Police have initiated efforts to identify the deceased and are making arrangements for the necessary medico-legal formalities.
