MARGAO: Curtorim Gymkhana thumped Navelim Villagers Union 2-0 to enter the semi-finals of the Dando Boys Cup Football tournament, organized by Dando Boys, at St John the Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Sunday. In the first half, Curtorim Gymkhana led 1-0.
Curtorim Gymkhana took the lead in the very fourth minute through Nevile Fernandes’ well composed shot off an assist by Deslie Fernandes.
Navelim Villagers Union tried to equalize but Clive Mascarenhas’ effort was saved by the rival goalkeeper in the 23rd minute.
Crossing over, Curtorim Gymkhana continued their dominance and doubled their advantage through Anthony Cardoza’s spot-kick after a rival defender brought down Curtorim Gymkhana’s Anthony.
