Poor response to Krishi Mahaotsav on first day

Farmers unhappy with Vijai’s style of working; Say the minister has not done any commendable performance in agriculture sector

VALPOI: A three-day Krishi Mahaotsav that is underway at Ravindra Bhavan, Sanquelim received a poor response from farmers on the opening day on Friday.
The Mahaotsav is being organised by the Directorate of Agriculture in collaboration with the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) and Zonal Agriculture Office.
The Mahotsav was inaugurated by Bicholim MLA Rajesh Patnekar in the presence of Director of Agriculture Nelson Frigado and Zonal officer Bhave.
On the opening only a few farmers put up stalls.
Many farmers said they were not happy with the working style of Agriculture Minister Vijai Sardesai, as there were many files pertaining to subsidy pending with the government. 
Farmers say that till date the agriculture minister has not done any commendable performance in the agriculture sector.
In his speech, Patnekar said today’s youth wanted only white collar jobs and didn’t want to work in agriculture sector. He urged the youth to work in the agriculture sector, as there was good scope in the sector.
