VASCO: The hearing in connection with the matter of the six lakh square metres of land which the Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) has reclaimed from the Zuari, has been adjourned to November 17.
It may be recalled that the MPT has asked the Deputy Collector for the survey number for the reclaimed land on the name of MPT.

However, at the hearing held at the Mormugao Deputy Collector’s office on Tuesday, there was no representative present from the Revenue Department.
Moreover, an objection in this matter was raised by the counsel of the Captain of Ports against passing any order, following which the hearing was adjourned to November 17.
When Herald contacted the Revenue Secretary Sudin Natu, he confirmed that the Revenue Department had already appointed an advocate to represent the State government in this matter. On further questioning, the Revenue secretary said he was unaware as to why the government’s counsel failed to turn up for the hearing. Natu also replied that he was not present for the hearing.
It may be recalled, that Revenue Minister, Jennifer Monserrate had also confirmed to Herald on September 19, that a government counsel has been appointed to represent the Government in this matter.
