MARGAO: GOACAN has sought that the Cutbona fishing jetty be provided with mobile toilets before November 19, World Toilet Day, so as to tackle the threat posed to the health and sanitation of the fish workers as well as the villagers of Velim and the neighbouring villages in Salcete.
In a letter to Jyoti Kumari, Salcete Deputy Collector, GOACAN pointed out that the lack of mobile toilets is only adding to the burden of the staff of the Primary Health Centre Balli who are already tasked with the work related to the COVID-19 pandemic. It raised concerns about the spread of vector-borne and waterborne diseases and that despite the earlier interventions, there has been no effective action been taken in the matter.
