MARGAO: The Margao Municipal Council (MMC) continued its ongoing anti-encroachment drive on Wednesday, during which they cleared Sadekar Lane near the market of all encroachments by roadside hawkers.
“We seized all the clothes, slippers, rainwear etc being sold on the roadside,” said a municipal market inspector, while describing the action taken against vendors who had kept these items on the footpath and lane, blocking pedestrians and forcing them to walk on the road, dodging traffic on the busy lane.

The confiscated items were later taken to the MMC building. Sadekar lane is one of the areas that the MMC has been targeting with their anti-encroachment drives, as this place is notorious for perennially facing traffic congestion.
