Ambaji house burgled

Burglars has once again struck gold in the Commercial Capital during day time on Monday with the Margao police running out of ideas in tackling the rising day-light burglaries in the city.
A residential house at Ambaji – behind the district hospital under construction – was targeted by the burglars, who have been successfully looting apartments of gold and cash at day time with ease.
In the instant case, Menino Miranda along with his wife had just gone out to the fields as the machinery was expected to come this year. “I had closed the door at around 10 am as we headed to the fields. It was at around noon that I received a call from my son stating that the door is open and the cupboards ransacked”, he recalled.
Menino’s worst fears came true as he returned home and found gold ornaments valued over Rs three lakh lifted away by the miscreants. Cash of Rs 20,000 was also looted by the burglars, he added.
He said a police dog was immediately pressed into service by the men-in-uniform, but the dog sniffed its way to a distance near the hospital under construction before loosing the track.
Incidentally, the Margao Police, when contacted for more information on the burglary, feigned total ignorance. Right from Margao PI Santosh Desai to PSI Mohan Gawde and other police personnel, they all feigned ignorance about the burglary.
A week ago, two apartments behind the Salgaocar chambers were the target of the burglars as they looted gold and cash day light. The miscreants are still at large.
The modus operandi adopted by this gang of burglars is simple. They effect entry into apartments and houses by cutting open the latch of the main door when the inmates leave to attend to daily chores or office.
