PANJIM: India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday said that temperatures in Goa are likely to be in the normal range over the next three days and there is no indication of a heat wave.
Speaking to Herald, MET Director M L Sahu said, “At present the temperatures are in the normal range. The weather is likely to be dry over Goa in the next five days. Yesterday, there was an indication of light showers across the State, but as of now there is no possibility of rains.”
Asked about the possibility of heat wave, Sahu said, “At present the temperatures are normal and there is no indication of heat wave as temperatures have not increased to that level. But if temperatures go higher it might occur. At present we cannot predict that.”
Sources have said the possibility of heat wave is when temperatures rise higher than the normal, which is above 37 degrees Celsius.
With the summer heat is on, the sale of air conditioners has started picking up with dealers revealing that the sale of air conditioners (ACs) has doubled in the last eight days.
Speaking to Herald, Shetye Sales Corporation, Manager said, “We have sold a record 40 air conditioners in the last eight days after the temperatures in the State started increasing. Otherwise, the average sale of ACs was just two pieces in eight days or so. People prefer ACs over coolers because of the humidity level and at present the AC sale is higher than coolers, at least in Panjim.”
