QUEPEM: Left without water for the last five days and irked over the PWD’s failure to replace the old cement pipeline near Someshwar Temple, Sirvoi-Quepem; the youth from the area were compelled to take up the task of repairing the pipeline.
A local Ashish Gaonkar said, “This water shortage issue is haunting us due to the bad condition of cement pipeline which was laid in 1990. If the pipeline is damaged then it will be very difficult to repair it as the same has turned soft.”

Quepem councillor and former vice-chairperson Chetan Haldankar said “Since the last 4-5 days the locals from Someshwar Temple area has no water. The pipeline bursts frequently and I do not blame the PWD workers as they do their job. We have complained about the situation and have asked them to replace the pipeline.”
Haldankar said, “No action has been taken to replace the pipeline. Yesterday it was repaired by the PWD. Today the same burst again. After complaining to the department about the pipeline burst, the official said the department is facing shortage of labour. I request the PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar to find a permanent solution.”
