A resident of Mulle-Paroda, Quepem, has accused Guirdolim ZP member of illegally digging a trench in his paddy field at Coriade-Mulle.
In his complaint filed with Collector South Goa, Salcette Mamlatdar and Town Planning department, one Lourence Oliveira stated that he along with others are the tenants and now deemed owners in possession and enjoyment of paddy field at Coriade-Mulle.
“There is a 3-mtr wide nullah, which passes through our paddy field. Recently, the Guirdolim ZP member through a contractor has illegally taken up digging of a trench through our paddy field,” stated Oliveira.
“The digging of a trench has caused extensive damage to our paddy field. The contractor has also illegally done excavation alongside the nullah and the mud has been dumped in our paddy field, which has caused damage to our paddy beds,” added Oliveira in the complaint.
Oliveira has demanded investigation into the matter and early action before the monsoon.
The complainant also demanded action against the contractor for illegal digging of a trench in the paddy field and for causing damage to the nullah.
When contacted, Guirdolim ZP member Sharmila Dias denied the allegations made against her. “The allegations made against me are false and baseless,” stated Dias.
