Loutolim sarpanch quits

Loutolim Sarpanch Sergio Fernandes has tendered his resignation from the post on Monday.
In his resignation letter submitted in the office of the Salcete Block Development Officer, the Sarpanch said he is compelled to tender the resignation letter due to obstruction to the development activities in the village by local MLA and Power Minister, Alexio Sequeira.
The Sarpanch has preferred to quit from the post a day before the no confidence tabled against him by majority of the members was scheduled to come up for discussions on March 31.
As many as six members of the Panchayat body had tabled a notice of no confidence motion against the Sarpanch, accusing him for not preparing the development plan for the village and charged him for not taking the members into confidence.
The signatories to the motion are Jose Caitano Fernandes, Ramdas Jogle, Carmo Fernandes, Marian Fernandes, Jose Vaz and Catarina Fernandes.
