CALANGUTE: Two Russian and two Egyptian nationals were arrested on charges of assaulting a lifeguard and a waiter at a Calangute shack on Saturday.
According to Calangute Police, the incident took place when the two Russians, Kosya Belyoev and Vasya Nadtochii, entered a shack at Calangute at around 3 pm and began talking loudly and disturbing the other customers.
A waiter at the shack, Salim Sheikh, requested the Russians to lower their voices, but this irritated the Russians, who allegedly abused the waiter and hit him with a cutter.
The waiter then cried for help and a lifeguard, Sachin Kadam, noticed him in distress and went to his rescue. When Kadam entered the shack to help the waiter, two Egyptians, Fahd Jamal Mohammed Hussai and Mohammed Galib, who were also seated in the shack joined the Russians and allegedly assaulted the waiter and the lifeguard.
Acting on a complaint by the shack owner, Simon D’Souza, a Calangute police team rushed to the site and arrested the four foreign nationals. PSI Nitin Harlankar is investigating the case.
