PANJIM: As it finds itself in the middle of criticism over poor condition of roads and its related fatalities, the State government has decided to prepare an action plan for road safety to combat the situation, with help from general public.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant during a meeting with the officials of Public Works Department (PWD), police, traffic cell and transport, directed to hold a special programme on October 21 to hear public grievances and suggestions on road safety and various aspects related to it.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) informed that the aim of the program is to allow the general public, who have got knowledge about the problems that occurs due to bad road in their respective villages, taluka or Goa as whole, to provide suggestions for a smoother traffic flow and to prevent accidents.
“An Action plan would be drafted with short term and long term measures based on the inputs from public. This action plan will be followed and implemented by the concerned department within the time frame decided by the government,” CMO said.
Officers of all concerned department are directed to remain present in person during the program to hear public suggestions.
