MARGAO: The South Goa wing of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) in a letter to the Margao Municipal Council and the MLAs of Margao and Fatorda has requested to name prominent landmarks in Margao after stalwarts of Modern Goa.
In the letter to the MMC  chairperson Babita Angle, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai, the president of South Goa MGP has said “Commercial town of Margao bears no memorial impressions of the crusaders and makers of Modern Goa, for the new generation to remember and emulate. I strongly feel a need to dot popular landmarks to the famous and forgotten that will continue to perpetuate the memory and good deeds of those noble souls” MGP says.
“Monumental memory of stalwarts of modern Goa like our first Chief Minister, D B Bandodkar, late Dr Sequeira and also our very own son of the town, late Anant N Naik need to be there, to mark our respect for these personalities,” says Sudesh Malkarnekar.
