PONDA: As the OPA water treatment plant at Curti-Khandepar quenches the thirst of entire Tiswadi and Ponda talukas, the villagers of Bethora, who reside close to plant have been facing acute water shortage this summer.
The women from Bondbaag area are complaining that they are facing water shortage for the last four years due to irregular water supply, low water pressure from small size diameter pipeline and increasing population in Bethora Village Panchayat area.
Sunita Satarkar informed they receive water supply at midnight that too on irregular basis and to collect it they have to spend sleepless nights.
“We have filed so many complaints and even recently informed the Water Supply Division at Daag, Ponda. After our complaints we got regular water for just few days and thereafter the problems continued like before.”
Another woman said they don’t get water supply properly but receive exorbitant bills regularly.
“In order to know whether water is released, we have to keep our taps open from which air pressure flows out before the water flows. In this process the water meter keeps on moving the reading, which results in exorbitant bills,” said the woman.
